The activity planned to teach and practice new vocabulary with students consist in several phases or stages that are the following:

1^st Stage - Activating prior knowledge: The teacher will play the videos from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki4O-Fy3z-0 (matter)

 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0LBegPWzrg (energy).

The teacher will provide to students with a list of words/phrases to be used in the lesson (matter, energy, states of matter, thermal, hydraulic, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, electromagnetic, sonic, gravitational, kinetic, potential, solid, gas, plasma, liquids). Then, the teacher will ask students to form groups of 4 in order to define the words in their own words (1-5 words per definition).

2^nd Stage - Practicing and learning vocabulary: The teacher will provide to students with cardboards, they will be required to divide the cardboards in fourths. The students will work in groups and will have to create cards, in the back side of the cards they will have to draw numbers. In the other side of the card, they will have to write the terms given by the teacher as vocabulary. When they finish the cards, the students will do something similar to the cards but now they are going to write the definitions of the words. Every group will have the same words but different definitions. The teacher will paste the cards on the board so that the board will be full of cards (because of the amount of words and students). The students in groups will participate in a contest to get extra points, they will have to find the word and the definition by selecting cards by their numbers. In this way, the students practice, learn and reinforce the new vocabulary.

El Centro Histórico de Quito fue declarado Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad. Tiene alrededor de 130 edificaciones monumentales. Las Iglesias coloniales, calles angostas, plazas, piletas y varios rincones consagrados a la tradición de una ciudad mestiza se pueden observar a cada paso.

Islas Galápagos

Ubicadas a poco menos de mil kilómetros de las costas del continente americano, se encuentran las islas Galápagos, un conjunto de trece islas de origen volcánico y más de un centenar de islotes y afloramientos rocosos, asombrosa reserva de diversidad biológica donde conviven casi dos mil especies endémicas, entre ellas las famosas tortugas terrestres gigantes que fascinaron a Darwin.

Volcán y Laguna Quilotoa

Espectacular anfiteatro natural situado en el cráter del volcán Quilotoa, en cuyo centro de 3 kilómetros de diámetro se ha formado una laguna de tonalidades verdes azulosas. El espectáculo desde arriba, es un impresionante mirador natural que permite apreciar la majestuosidad del paisaje, mientras que desde abajo, descendiendo 280 metros, es posible ver las burbujas irregulares que emergen de las fumarolas del volcán.
